Just looking for another Compassionate Friend,to-day is my son's anniversary date,it's been 8 years and he too passed from a life long illness. Bless all those who passed after a life time battle to stay well

Sunday,  Sherry  Crock21@msn.com
I live in Spartanburg, SC. My mother told me about this site thinking it would help me cope with the untimely death of my baby brother through reading others poems and stories. My brother Steven Crocker died in an automobile accident as well. He only lived 20 hours after the accident. I have periodically visited thr "Compassionate Friends" site since his death on December 29, 2003, but I've never been touched like I was when I saw Kevin's site. I pray that you know God's grace is sufficient. My brother was and is my bestfriend. I know that you wish you'd never lost your sweet baby but isn't it amazing when something like this happends how you find out just how much strength God can give us when it's needed. Thank you for your time and I'm so sorry for your loss. Please e-mail me if you would like. For several weeks now, I have felt like I was going to make it but today I again have this HUGE hole in the pit of my stomach longing for him again. Please remember my family in your prayers. Sherry

The last time I saw Kevin he had pulled up beside me at a stop sign; he honked his horn, smiled, and waved to me. Most young boys would not have done this to a senior adult; he made my day with that smile and wave!

I wanted to let you know my thoughts are with you today, 2/25, the anniversary of Kevin's death. My daughter, Amanda was killed in an automobile accident on 7/25/99 so I know the depth of pain that only a bereaved parent can feel. This web site is an incredible tribute to Kevin and allows others to get to know Kevin and the positive influence he had on the lives of others both during his life and death. Thank you for sharing his story. God bless you and your family.

I helped in raising Russell Meadors!! He was "MY BABY!!" When I found out that Russell had juvenille diabetes I honestly did not know what to think. What did it really mean?? First of all, I could not belive that THIS had happened to MY RUSSELL!! Since then I have learned more about it and when I see "MY RUSSELL" I am just so very proud of how he has handled what God has placed in his life!! God only gives us what we can handle, even though we don't think that we can at the time!! Thanks so very, very much Susan and Don for giving "MY RUSSEL" the honor and privilege to receive such a wonderful scholarship. You picked the right man!! Russell has made and will continue to make his family and those that have been privileged to know him very proud of him!! I love you Russell!! "Ms. June" Thanks so much Susan and Don!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kevin would have been thrilled that you choose Russell.

06/01/2002  Russell Meadors  tigers81_2000@yahoo.com
I was fortunate to know Kevin before his death. I'm grateful that he was a part of my life. He was a good friend of my older brother and came over to our house numerous times. In April, four years ago, I was diagnosed with juvenille diabetes also. Kevin gave me encouragement and taught me that it wasn't the end of the world. Every time I would pass him at school, he would ask me how I was doing. It made me feel good when he would ask me that because I wasn't too proud of my disease. I couldn't yet drive when Kevin had his accident but once I could, I tried to make sure that I checked my blood sugar everytime I got behind the wheel. Anyone that has diabetes knows that this is no easy task. When I graduated from high school on May 17, 2002, I was awarded the Kevin's Dream Scholarship. I was so honored to recieve this award. I would have rather got this scholarship more than any other scholarship that I could have possibly recieved. Kevin has always been someone that I look up and I continue to idilize him.

I was directed to this site by two people I shared a plane ride with from Boston. What started out to be a quick look at an auction, turned into an hour of reading. This is a great site dedicated to a great person.

01/22/2002  karen hardin  jumpinbeans@yahoo.com
For some reason Kevin's webpage just popped into my head and so I thought I would take a look. It seems that even now Kevin in making an impact on people's lives...which is not a surprise...he was such a good hearted person. -karen

I am the mother of Travis Vincent Hays whose life was cut short this past October. He was almost 11 years old and so full of life and dreams. He was killed in a car accident. His father was the driver and lives every day with that guilt. We also chose to have his organs donated to help other people live their dreams. he was also honored with the Spirit of the Eagle Award--his dream to become and Eagle scout was so strong. We are living each day to the fullest in order to provide his 8 year old brother Cody the life we intended for both boys. We are sorry to hear of your son's death and plan to set up a website for Travis soon. Take care of your family and know that Kevin is with you everyday.

05/15/2001  Cheryl Krase  bobacgk@home.com
I found Kevin's website by typing Spirit of the Eagle into a search engine. I am sorry for the absence of your son from your lives. My good friend's son received the Spirit of the Eagle award in Dec. 2000 for her son, Travis Vincent Hays, who died from injuries in a car accident. Travis was 11. He also was a major organ donor. I will tell his parents about Kevin's sight. God Bless You.

Whata wonderful witness for Christ the Adams Family is!! Words fail to say what is in my heart at this time. May God bless Kevin's giving and his dream scholarship. May God hold you in his loving arms as you remember Kevin.

Uncle Don & Aunt Susan, This is wonderful! Everyone here had a chance to see Kevin's Dream, even MaMa. We all love Kevin and he will be in our memories always. This visit was made possible by my wonderful dad, who finally allowed us to go online! We Love Ya'll.

01/04/2001  Jasmine Sierra  princessjasmine_04@yahoo.com
I think this is real kewl, that people out there really care about this. My little cousin, 7, was recently diagnosed with juvenile diabetes and it's been kinda hard to understand everything that happens to her. So anywho, I really appreciate all the people who take the time and dedicate themselves to making a website, such as this, so that my family and I can understand more about diabetes and be able to help my cousin when she's feeling bad.

12/01/2000  Jessica Dawkins  curlyjld@yahoo.com

This site looks great, and the number of visitors is growing everyday. I hope this page inspires people to look into organ donation. The greatest gift that a person can give when he dies, is life to others. A day doesn't go by that I don't think about Kevin and all the great times we had together. It makes me smile everytime I think about him watching over me from Heaven.

09/17/2000  scott d  scottld75@yahoo.com

I also heard about the website at the Leesville Southern Methodist Church last Wednesday night.I haven't had a chance to look at the site yet. My Mother{Julie Martin}had a single lung transplant in January of 1996. If it had not been for families like yours she probably would not be alive today. Also through this she has accepted Christ as Savior. May God richly bless your family for giving this most special gift of life.Yvonne Martin

Just returned from a visit to my cousins in Clinton, SC. One is Jeffrey Young, the other Bill Brehmer. Was impressed and moved by the scrapbook Jeff's mom, Susan, put together on the championhip season dedicated to Kevin. You must be comforted by the thought that Kevin touched so many lives in such a positive way.

07/02/2000  Allen Simmons  asimmons2@yahoo.com
Kevin was loved by everyone. He was a great friend and a great teammate. He was always the most complimentary of everyone. After we upset Christ Church Kevin told me that I was awesome. That saying is forever imprinted in my mind. He is still being represented on the tennis court. Whenever I play in a tennis tournament I always wear a Clinton High School tennis shirt with, of course, KA2000 on the sleave. Whenever I am down in life or on the tennis court I always think of what Kevin told me, "Allen you are Awesome,",and it always lifts me up. Kevin has the best family and friends in the world, and we all love and remember Kevin.

06/22/2000  Jennifer Howard  Thehowards@infoave.org
This is a wonderful way to keep Kevin's spirit alive. I hope that, by looking at this site, other people will learn of the generous heart that Kevin had.

04/09/2000  Karen Hardin  jumpinbeans@yahoo.com
Last year, a friend of mine gave me this passage titled "To Remember Me", which she printed it off the Chicken Soup for the Soul website. (3/23/99) I thought I would share it with everyone, because it reminds me of Kevin. It reminds me of Kein's good intentions. The day will come when my body will lie upon a white sheet nealty tucked under four corners of a mattress located in a hospital busily occupied with the living and the dying. At a certian moment a doctor will determine that my brain has ceased to function and that, for all intents and purposes, my life has stopped. When that happens, do not attempt to instill artificial life into my body by the use of a machine. And don't call this my deathbed. Let it be called the Bed of Life, and let my body be taken from it to help others lead fuller lives. Give my sight to the man who has never seen a sunrise, a baby's face or love in the eyes of a woman. Give my heart to a person whose own heart has caused nothing but endless days of pain. Give my blood to the teenager who was pulled from the wreakage of his car, so that he might live to see his grandchildren play. Give my kidneys to one who depends on a machine to exist from week to week. Take my bones, every muscle, every fiber and nerve in my body and find a way to make a crippled child walk. Explore every corner of my brain. Take my cells, if necessary, and let them grow so that someday, a speechless boy will shout at the crack of a bat, and a deaf girl will hear the sound of rain against the window. Burn what is left of me and scatter the ashes to the winds to help the flowers grow. If you must bury something, let it be my faults, my weaknesses and all prejudice against my fellow man. Kevin was always giving. He gave me his friendship, something that will never be forgotten or lost. With God's everlasting love, Karen.

04/03/2000  Kevin Williams  ephis_99@yahoo.com
I love what you have done for kevin and I think that he would appreciate this if he was here today. Kevin was a great friend of mine and I will miss his a lot. I would like to thank everyone that had anything to do with this. I just wish that he was still here to hang out with and play ball together like we did in the old days. I hope that he is enjoying where he is and I hope one day when I die that we can get back together and talk about the old days. I would like to also say if the family needs anything to let me know and I will do what I can do to help.

04/02/2000  Hollis Adair  Hollis831@aol.com
The Legacy When I die, give what is left of me to children. If you need to cry, cry for your brothers walking beside you. Put your arms around anyone and give them what you need to give me. I want to leave you with something, something better than words or sounds. Look for me in people I have known and loved. And if you cannot live without me, then let me live on in your eyes, your mind and your acts of kindness. You can love me most by letting hands touch hands and letting go of children that need to be set free. Love does not die, people do. So when all that is left of me is love. . . Give it away. . . I am not sure of who the author of this poem is, but I feel like he or she must have known Kevin. He was by far one of the kindest young men I have ever had the honor of knowing. This website is a wonderful tribute to him and to all that he has meant to his family. Kevin, your smiling face and friendly personality is greatly missed! Anyone who ever recieves your scholarship should feel extremely honored to be known as someone who possess the characteristics of Kevin Adams!

What a tribute!! What a treasure Kevin was !! He touched more lives in his nearly 17 years than most of us do in 40 or 50 or 60 ...... He was also a tribute to his parents and sister and grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends......And his spirit lives on.

I know that this past weekend was tough on you. It was tough on me and my brother, Andrew. Kevin was a nice guy and a good friend. He was like my third brother. If there is anything my family can do please let me know. He would never talk bad about me or my family, like some would do. He was, like I said a great guy and a great friend.

Kevin was a great guy. one thing i never will forget about him is how he never would make fun of anyone, like others often do. He was always very kind and to this day i don't remember a time that he wouldn't say something to me when he saw me, or give me that famous "wink" in the hallway.

Carl, you are alot of things to alot of people, but an outsider to our family is not one of them. You are a special brother-in-law and a great friend. Everett

I didn't know Kevin; however, by the time and energy that has been put into this website and by the comments made, I can see that he was a special young man and loved by many.

From the first time I held Kevin and looked into those clear blue eyes, I knew that he would captivate the hearts of many people. He was a wonder and is a treasure. He will forever be in my heart and mind. I'm so honored in knowing that he was a friend of mine. Love to you all- Karen

Susan and Don, It has been a great pleasure working with Kevins Dream these last few months. You both know the commitment that Jackie and I have for this project. I have a hard time expressing myself but I want you both to know how proud of you that we are. It takes courage and sacrifice to go forward with ones life after such a great loss. Know in your heart that Jackie and I are ready to help in any way that you would want. Also we can hold back anytime, just keep us posted. For a personal and selfish moment, KEVIN thank you for letting me be a friend, and for making a black sheep feel like a part of your extended family. GOD bless Carl

Dad, When I was young, you taught me about the word pride. When you told me about this project and the time you spent on it, that one word ment so much to me. You have taken so much pride in to Kevins Dream, and it shows. Kevin's dream and many others are being filled to this day, due to your ideas and commitments. Take pride in your work, cause i sure take pride in saying you are my dad and how far we all have come as a family. Bro we sure could have not done it without you and the wedowebs group. You all have done a great job. And to the S.C. gang, there are no limitations. And thank yall and God for letting us come this far. Love you Kevin, and "ONE SWEETDAY" we will be following your footsteps and dreams.

Dad, The site has come a long way in a short time. With a little more time and effort this will be a tribute to which the entire South Carolina gang can be proud. A special thanks to Web Designers of Orlando, Inc. for their effort.

Haven't been here in a while but I continue to think of him daily. Last night, I took Logan to visit a friend that was on a 4-wheeler and is now fighting for his life. I know we will never know why things happen while we are here, but it seems there would be a better way other than what we see families go through. Sue and Don, you know that you are my two favorite people and I love you both... Everett

What a wonderful tribute. I lost my son at the age of 26. You can view my son's webpage and light a candle for him at: jason-gaston.memory-of.com It is so sad to lose these children at such a young age.

I still remember and think about Kevin so fondly. I wish so much that he could be here still experiencing and chatting about all of life's experiences like we did as teenagers. I am glad Kevin's Dream continues to tell his story and raise awareness about diabetes. The great memories of him will always be so clear in my mind and the minds of so many others. It was a privilege to know him and call him my friend.

I am so sorry that Kevin's life was cut short for diabetes and send my deepest sympathy to the whole family. It is so brave for you to keep raising funds for diabetes a a tribute to him! I hope a cure puts an end to all deaths caused by the treatments and complications of diabetes. Best wishes on all of your worthy efforts. Andrea Seitz Type 1 for 38 of 40 years

Thank you so much for choosing me as a recipent of this scholarship. When I read Kevin's story I cried because I too hope to own a Ford Mustang someday. But I would like the 1967 Shelby GT 500, very similar to Kevin's Dream. I am forever grateful to him. He will be in my prayers. Thank you again.

Don and Susan: What a special gift you were given in Kevin and God bless you so much for continuing to share that gift with others in such a special way. Reading about Kevin, makes you feel like you knew him, even if you had not had the priviledge of doing so. I am so deeply moved by your ability to have shared Kevin's life in this way and I know that it is a gift that will continue to keep Kevin's dream alive. You are a very special family and your gift will encourage others to continue to believe also. God's word tells us that "without a vision, the people perish". Kevin's dream will be a vision of hope for so many others. Again, thank you for sharing Kevin's dream, and for keeping it alive. God bless you.

Don & Susan, It has been so great getting to know you and working on Kevin's website. From one mom to another, I cannot express how much my heart goes out to you, Susan. It is so inspiring to see how the two of you have been through the worst tradgedy on earth and have somehow become a blessing to others. What a special family you are - I'm so honored to know you.
